Vestibular Rehabilitation (VR) is the process of using exercise to strengthen your balance system, this often helps reduce dizziness and associated symptoms. VR is for people who are suspected of having a weakness within their balance system.  Your balance system is made up of your eyes, balance organs (found in your inner ears) and your muscles and joints. The balance organs give information to the brain about movement and position. You feel dizzy when one of the balance organs is not working as well.

In your initial session your appointment will last for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Firstly, you will be asked about your balance problem to establish a good understanding of what is happening and when. I may then ask you to do some simple tasks so I can observe your difficulties. Please wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes. I will explain the balance system and why you are getting the symptoms when doing particular movements or when visiting certain places.

You may then be offered a Particle Repositioning treatment and/or I will show you exercises to help improve your symptoms. I will give you some leaflets to read when you get home to help clarify everything you have been told.
